Valentine’s Day Ideas from the Grand

Valentine’s Day Ideas from the Grand

Are you still looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift or outing? We put together a list of local eateries, events, and shops that would make great date nights, friends’ night out, or special treat just for you!

l.May Eatery

Our friends at l.May Eatery have a special Valentine’s Day menu on February 13th and 14th. And while we love everything on their menu – Lobster Mac’n’Cheese and Chocolate cake with Crème Brulé ice cream makes us drool just thinking about them! Make a reservation to make sure you get a seat!

Check out the whole menu and get reservation details on their website: https://www.lmayeatery.com/

Captured on Canvas

Captured on Canvas has Painting Parties all weekend and beyond. It doesn’t matter who your valentine is! Enjoy a night out with friends (did someone say Galantine’s Day?), spend some time with your kids as  special Valentine’s Day treat, or Check out their Singles only event! You can bring your own snacks and beverages (beer and wine is allowed for anyone 21+) and you might just catch a glimpse of one or two of the artists from Easel Wars last year!

Sign up for one of these fun events on their website: https://www.dbqartstudio.com/paint-party-live

Stone Cliff Winery

Looking for food and entertainment? Check out Stone Cliff Winery this weekend. There is live music all weekend, and you can enjoy some delicious appetizers or pizza, not to mention the incredible local wine options. We might have to stop down for a tasting flight of wine and a Chicken Margherita pizza…. And a Brownie Delight.

Get details on who is playing and check out their other menu options on their website: https://www.stonecliffwinery.com/

Bell Tower Theater

We may not have a show happening this weekend – but you can still enjoy some live theater at the Bell Tower Theater. Their show Off the Grid opens this weekend. Marty and her husband Leonard spend their anniversary at and “off the grid” house—without TV, the internet or a flush toilet. But is Lowell, their reclusive next-door neighbor hiding something?

Get tickets and details on their website: https://www.belltowertheater.net/

Some other local options include:

We love everything we have tried at Brazen – we especially recommend their brunch: https://www.brazenopenkitchen.com/

Spend a day Exploring the National Mississippi and River Museum: https://www.rivermuseum.com/

Enjoy an evening at the Heritage Center with The Duke Ellington Orchestra: https://www.dbq.edu/HeritageCenter/LiveatHeritageCenter/PerformingArtsSeries/DukeEllingtonOrchestra/

Treat yourself or a loved one to a shopping spree at Fig Leaf on Bluff Street: https://figleaf.shop/

Enjoy a meal at The Woodfire Grill at the Diamond Jo Casino: https://www.diamondjodubuque.com/dine/woodfire-grille

And if celebrating this weekend isn’t in the cards The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra will be performing later in the month at Five Flags: https://www.dubuquesymphony.org/

Last, but certainly not least…

Check out a show at the Grand! (You didn’t think we would create a list like this and not include ourselves!)

Tickets for a show make excellent gifts for your Valentine!

Steel Magnolias opens on February 25th and The Heartland Ballet’s production of Sleeping Beauty opens on April 2nd. Also, all through the month of March and into April we will have Easel Wars happening at the theater.

Make your reservations or pick up a special gift for your valentine – and enjoy everything there is to do right here in Dubuque!

P.s. If you pick something from this list you will also be supporting local businesses that support the Grand Opera House and local arts!
