The Rocky Horror Auditions

Audition Times

Sunday, September 8 @ 7PM
Monday, September 9 @ 7PM

Callbacks, if needed, will take place in the evening on Tuesday, September 10.

Performers should plan to arrive at the start of the audition time. Please contact [email protected] if you cannot be there at the top of the audition time.

Actors will be notified if they are needed for callbacks. If you are not called back, it does not mean you are not being considered for a role.

Location:

Auditions will be held at The Grand Opera House, 135 W 8th Street.

Performances

October 18, 19, 24, 24 & 26 @ 7:30PM

This production is open to adult actors, ages 18 and above.

Full Company rehearsals will begin tentatively Monday, September 16. Rehearsals will typically run between 6-9PM Monday – Friday, with the possibility of some weekend rehearsals.

Dress/Technical/Brush-Up Rehearsals are October 14 – 17 and 23. Availability for dress/technical rehearsals and all performances is mandatory.

Detailed Rehearsal schedules will be made available upon the completion of casting.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Digital audition form. Fill this out prior to your arrival by clicking the button below to save time at auditions. Those auditioning should be prepared to list all conflicts or potential conflicts that overlap with a production’s rehearsal and performance schedule.
  • Come dressed to move as there will be a short movement component at the start of the audition.
  • Please come prepared to sing the following selections from the show:
    • Women (please choose one):
      • Science Fiction – measures 4 to 41
      • Touch-a Touch Me – measures 1 to 58
    • Men (please choose one):
      • Over at the Frankenstein Place – measures 49 to 62
      • Once in a While – measures 38 to 78
  • You do not need to prepare a musical selection if you are only interested in being considered for the role of the Narrator. Please plan on participating in the movement component and a cold reading from the script that will be provided at auditions.

Alternate Audition and Video Submissions:
Anyone who would like to audition but can’t make it during the regular audition times may send a video submission to [email protected]. Video submissions should one of pre-determined music selections. Adding a movement/dance section to your audition tape is optional. All video submissions need to be received by Monday, September 9.

CASTING INFORMATION:

The creative team seeks a diverse company of adult actors, 18 and older. Actors of all ethnicities will be equally considered for all roles and actors of color are encouraged to audition. All roles are open.

Characters:

USHERETTE/MAGENTA: (Mezzo Soprano Belt, Female-Identified, any ethnicity)
One of Frank’s servants.

BRAD: (Baritone/Tenor, Male-Identified, any ethnicity)
Quirky, but very much in love with his fiancé, Janet. Overly optimistic at times.

JANET: (Mezzo Soprano Belt, Female-Identified, any ethnicity)
Good girl who is madly in love with Brad. Always seems to be frightened of something. Keeps losing more of her clothes throughout the story. Emotionally weak and caves into pressure easily.

NARRATOR: (Non-Singing Role, Male-Identified, any ethnicity)
Follows our two hero’s through the story by narrating directly to the audience.

RIFF RAFF: (High Rock Tenor, Male-Identified, any ethnicity)
Creepy man resembling more of a zombie. Often makes harmless conversation seem awkward and foreboding. One of Frank’s servants.

COLUMBIA: (Mezzo Soprano Belt, Female-Identified, any ethnicity)
One of Frank’s servants.

FRANK-N-FURTER: (Baritone, Male-Identified, any ethnicity)
Master of the castle. Welcomes Janet and Brad with open arms. Obsessed with creating a man to be part of his sexual entourage. Master of seduction.

ROCKY: (Tenor, Male-Identified, any ethnicity)
Frank’s magnificent creation. Sexually appealing with prominent muscles.

EDDIE/DR. SCOTT: (Baritone, Male-Identified, any ethnicity)
Eddie, delivery man, “went to pieces.” Misses the rock and role of life. Comes back to life only to die after his solo. Scott is Eddie’s Uncle.
