Audition Times
Sunday, January 5 @ 6PM

Callbacks, if needed, will take place in the evening on Tuesday, January 7.
Performers should plan to arrive at the start of the audition time. Please contact [email protected] if you cannot be there at the top of the audition time.
Actors will be notified if they are needed for callbacks. If you are not called back, it does not mean you are not being considered for a role.
Location:
Auditions will be held at the Grand’s Rehearsal space in the Arcade Building, 880 Locust St., Suites 222 and 228. Please enter through the Locust Street entrance. When you enter, take the stairs on the right to the second floor. The rooms are right at the top of the stairs.

This production is open to adult actors, 18 and older.
Full Company rehearsals will begin tentatively January 20. Rehearsals will typically be held Monday-Thursday evenings from 7-9pm, with the possibility of adding Friday rehearsals as needed.
Dress/Technical/Brush-Up Rehearsals February 17 – 20 and February 27. Availability for dress/technical rehearsals and all performances is mandatory.
Detailed Rehearsal schedules will be made available upon the completion of casting.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Digital audition form. Fill this out prior to your arrival by clicking the button below to save time at auditions. Those auditioning should be prepared to list all conflict or potential conflicts between Monday, January 20, 2025 and Sunday, February 16, 2024.
- Prepare a 1 min cut (approximately 32 bars) of a musical theater song. Please bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided.
- Come dressed to move as there will be a short movement component at the start of the audition.
- Actors will be asked to read from a selection of short sides that will be provided during auditions.
Alternate Audition and Video Submissions:
Actors unable to attend auditions may submit an audition video to [email protected]. Video submissions should contain 32 bars of a musical theater song showcasing range. Adding a movement/dance section to your audition tape is optional. Video submissions must be received no later than 6pm Monday, January 6.
CASTING INFORMATION:
The creative team seeks a diverse company of adult actors, 18 and older. Actors of all ethnicities will be equally considered for all roles and actors of color are encouraged to audition. All roles are open. There is the possibility of actors portraying more than one role.
Adults:
MISS NELSON (Mezzo/Soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) — sweet, pretty, blond, wears pastels
MISS VIOLA SWAMP (Alto, female-identified, any ethnicity) — mean, scary, ugly, a witch, dark hair, wears all black
POP HANSON (speaking part only, male-identified, any ethnicity) —the Janitor/Narrator, bushy mustache, wears overalls, baseball cap, carries a broom and a pitchpipe
MR. BLANDSFORD (Tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) — The boring Principal; wears a pastel shirt and a loud, funny tie or a bowtie, and nerdy glasses
DETECTIVE McSMOGG (Baritone, male-identified, any ethnicity) — The inept detective, dressed like Sherlock Holmes, signature hat and cape, handle-bar mustache, pipe, large magnifying glass
The Kids:
ADAM (BOY #1) (Tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) — Has a wild imagination and dark thoughts, clever, creative, smart, a leader, a mischief-maker, brave on the outside, a cream puff on the inside
ALLISON (GIRL #1) (Soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) — Bossy, a leader, take-charge type, especially in times of crisis, smart, quick, no-nonsense, usually knows the answer, thinks for herself, presents a perfect image when the teacher is looking, a goody two shoes
GREGORY (BOY #2) (Baritone, male-identified, any ethnicity) — A.D.D. type, finds it hard to sit still and pay attention, lives in his own world, lacking in self-control, silly, artistic, draws (especially unflattering pictures of Miss Nelson)
CHERYL (GIRL #2) (, female-identified, any ethnicity) — A follower, silly, a girly girl, but wicked, sneaky, can hold her own, a tattle-tale, a worrier, scares easily
