AUDITION INFORMATION
Saturday, April 25 @ 1PM
Sunday, April 26 @ 6PM
Monday, April 27 @ 6PM
Callbacks, if needed, will take place in the evening on Wednesday, April 29.
Performers should plan to arrive at the start of the audition time. Please contact casting@thegrandoperahouse.com if you cannot be there at the top of the audition time.
Actors will be notified if they are needed for callbacks. If you are not called back, it does not mean you are not being considered for a role.
Location:
Auditions will be held at The Grand’s Rehearsal space in the Arcade Building, 880 Locust St., Suites 222 and 228. Please enter through the Locust Street entrance. When you enter, take the stairs on the right to the second floor. The rooms are right at the top of the stairs.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Fill out the digital audition form HERE prior to your arrival to save time at auditions. Those auditioning should be prepared to list all conflicts or potential conflicts that overlap with a production’s rehearsal and performance schedule.
- Please come prepared to move as the audition will start with a short movement/dance portion.
- Prepare a 1 min cut (approximately 32 bars) of a musical theater song in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music in the correct key as an accompanist will be provided.
- Actors may be asked to read from a selection of short sides.
Alternate Audition and Video Submissions:
Actors unable to attend auditions may submit an audition video to casting@thegrandoperahouse.com. Video submissions should contain 32 bars of a musical theater song in the style of the show showcasing range. Adding a dance section to your audition tape is optional. Video submissions must be received no later than 6pm Monday, April 27.

This production is open to youth and adult actors. Youth actors need to be entering the 9th grade in the fall of 2026 to be considered for casting.

June 21, 28 and July 5 @ 2:00PM
We ask that you please also hold the afternoons on June 20 and 27 open in the event that we need to add a 2pm performance.
Full company rehearsals will begin tentatively May 11
Dress/Technical Rehearsals are June 15 – 18
Availability for dress/technical rehearsals and all performances is mandatory
Detailed Rehearsal schedules will be made available upon the completion of casting.
CASTING INFORMATION:
The creative team seeks a diverse company of youth and adult actors. Actors of all ethnicities will be equally considered for all roles and actors of color are encouraged to audition. All roles are open.
Donna Sheridan (mezzo-soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) – Free-spirited, former lead singer in a group called “Donna and the Dynamos” who now owns and runs a hotel/casino on a Greek island. A strong feminist who also has a zany and vulnerable side.
Sophie Sheridan (soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) – A very special young woman who is determined to find the romance and happiness she feels eluded her mother. Has a wild, zany spirit even though she pursues a conventional marriage.
Tanya (mezzo-soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) – A former singer in the “Dynamos”. Rich, sophisticated, acerbic, funny, and witty. Actress who sings.
Rosie (mezzo-soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) – Also a former singer in the “Dynamos” who now writes for and runs a feminist press. She’s confident, strong, and funny on the outside but shy underneath.
Sky (baritone-tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) – Sophie’s fiancé, who has given up his life as a successful young businessman in order to make over Donna’s taverna and marry Sophie.
Sam Carmichael (baritone, male-identified, any ethnicity) – May be Sophie’s father. Left Donna 20 years ago because he was engaged to another woman. Charming, successful architect.
Harry Bright (baritone-tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) – May be Sophie’s father. British financier, wealthy, buttoned-up, and conservative but trying to reconnect with his freer, youthful self.
Bill Austin (baritone, male-identified, any ethnicity) – May be Sophie’s father. A travel writer with no possessions or strings. Goodnatured, always ready for adventure.
Lisa (mezzo-soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) – Sophie’s friend who arrives to be a bridesmaid.
Ali (mezzo-soprano, female-identified, any ethnicity) – Sophie’s friend who arrives to be a bridesmaid.
Pepper (baritone-tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) – Sky’s friend. Helps run the hotel. Charming, loves women, always flirting.
Eddie (baritone-tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) – Another friend of Sky and hotel worker. Laid-back, easygoing.
Ensemble (various voice ranges, male and female-identified characters, any ethnicity) – Consists of the Islanders, who work at Donna’s, Wedding-Guests.
