The Grand Opera House Announces Auditions for
Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon
Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon is the enchanting and beloved Broadway musical that inspired the classic MGM film. Featuring such standards as “Almost Like Being in Love,” “Come to Me, Bend To Me,” and “Heather on the Hill,” Brigadoon is a timeless, romantic classic which vividly brings the mystery and magic of the Scottish highlands to life.
New Yorker Tommy Albright unexpectedly arrives at the mysterious Scottish Highland village of Brigadoon, which only appears for one day every 100 years. When Tommy meets and falls in love with Fiona, a beautiful villager in this magical hamlet, he must decide whether to return to his old life or stay in Brigadoon — forever. Although it first opened on Broadway in 1947 this will be the first time the musical has been produced by the Grand.

A note on safety:
All those auditioning will be required to wear a mask while in the audition room and waiting area. Masks may be briefly removed while singing. We ask that no guests be brought to the audition. Those auditioning who are under 18 who need an adult to accompany them are asked to limit this to one person. Every attempt will be made to limit the number of people in the space.
During rehearsals, cast will be required to wear masks and every effort will be made to socially distance. As this is a quickly changing situation, we are waiting to make the decision about wearing masks in performance until we are closer to the dates of performance. When making this decision we will take into consideration the availability of the vaccine, and comfort level of cast and crew.

Actors should prepare a 1 min cut (approximately 32 bars) of a musical theater song in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provide.
Actors will be asked to read from a selection of short sides. See links for these sides below the character descriptions. Paper copies will be available at the auditions
All actors should be prepared for a dance/movement audition.
*An advanced combination may be taught during callbacks for those being considered for major dancing roles.
