The Grand Opera House will present Madagascar Jr. Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture, book by Kevin Del Aguila, original Music and Lyrics by George Noriega & Joel Someillan. Performances will be August 17th at 7:30pm, August 18th at 2:00pm & 7:30pm, and August 19th at 2:00pm.

Auditions are open by appointment to children currently in 2nd-8th grades.

For audition appointments please email or call 563-588-4356 Mon-Fri between 9:00 AM-4:00PM. If emailing for an appointment for yourself or your child please specify the date on which you would prefer to audition.  Include the full name of the student and current grade level. 

Location: Auditions will be held at the Grand’s Rehearsal space in the Arcade Building, 880 Locust St., Suites 222 and 228.  Please enter through Locust St. entrance located between 8th and 9th Streets.  There are two rooms, a registration room and the audition room.  Parents/Guardians may accompany children to the audition registration room but will not be allowed in the audition room.

Those auditioning will be asked to sing 1 verse of the song of their choice.  An accompanist will be provided, please bring sheet music in the appropriate key or songs can be sung A Capella.  Auditionees will learn a brief dance routine during auditions and may be asked to participate in a short acting exercise.  Those auditioning should wear proper footwear to be able to dance in: sandles and flip-flops are not recommended. Those Auditionees asked to attend Callbacks will receive a portion of the script to read from and may be asked to sing a selection from the score.

Those auditioning should prepare a list of conflicts for the above dates.  Attendance August 13th-17th and for all performances is mandatory.
